The Painting Holiday
|
|
The beautiful area around Lubrin in the Province Almeria, Andalucia provides the setting for this week long creative and explorative art holiday for both beginner and experienced artists. This art holiday brings together small groups (maximum 6 persons) of like minded people who share the same base site enabling the group to bond through shared interests, enriching the whole weeks experience producing artwork with the help of an experienced tutor, Jayne Raine.
|
The site is a stunning 2 acre Andalucian finca with its 100 year old farmhouse set in ancient terraces of Almond, Olive and pomegranate trees in lovely peaceful gardens with its own swimming pool. The holidaymakers are accommodated in comfortable, character individual apartments in and around the finca. The farmhouse, Cortijo Fuente Arriba, is located just a 5 minute walk from the pueblo with its whitewashed houses and red brick church tumble magically down a picturesque valley providing a perfect tranquil base for your holiday.
Holiday Course Content
There is no need for a “generic one course suit all “ approach as the holiday is structured to encourage individual exploration by artists of all standards and experience.
The objective of the holiday is to explore new skills, develop own methods and discover your potential whilst receiving expert attention from your experienced and knowledgeable tutor, Jayne Raine,
Bring your own materials but oil paints and pastels will be unsuitable for transportation due to the lengthy drying process and the solvents required for their use. Consider watercolour and acrylic paints, pastels, pencils, brushes and other applicators, paper and canvasses and any other individual media required. We will provide easels, drawing boards, lightweight folding chairs and a sketchbook of 100% recycled paper.
Jayne will encourage you to make drawings and marks in the sketchbook to include written observations and found objects, leaflets, information etc. as an aide memoire. This visual diary may be used as preparatory work for the more formal individual pieces or may become a very personalized art work in its own right. The visual diary and individual works will transport you back to light, colourful, stunning, tranquil, crazy Spain from the wettest, dullest days when back in the UK.
A visual diary to trigger new ideas, provide an alternative way of seeing and interpreting what you see, a personal recording of the familiar and the foreign in Andalucia.
The timeless setting encourages people to relax and be able to visually explore the amazing landscapes, the laid back pace of life in this hidden corner of Southern Spain. No pressing deadlines, no right or wrong way, simply tour own creative expression encouraged and brought to visual reality through art.
Easels
Drawing Boards
Lightweight Portable Canvas Chairs
Prior to departure Jayne will contact you to discuss your personal preferences and will supply you with a list of painting materials you will need for the course.
We do have a small art shop in the studio where you can buy basic painting and drawing materials.
